ABD’s retirement: IPL 2022 without ABD
When talking about IPL, one cannot forget this name because of the entertainment he provided to all of us. He is Abraham Benjamin De Villiers. Also known as ABD, he was one of the most destructive batsmen to ever play in the league. But he will not be seen in IPL 2022 as he retired from all forms of cricket and announced it through his social media handle on the 19th of November 2021.
He had an amazing IPL career. In 175 matches he played, he scored a massive 5053 runs averaging 41.08, and also had an amazing strike rate of 152.70. In the IPL, he has scored 3 centuries and 40 fifties. His highest individual score remains 133 runs. But sadly he will be missed in the 15th edition of the IPL. So this is all one needs to know about IPL 2022 as of now. The schedules and the retentions of the two new teams are yet to come out. The mega auction will happen anywhere between December and January but the date has not been fixed yet because of the Omicron variant scares around the country. Let’s hope that IPL doesn’t postpone due to this variant.
