Nepali National Cricket Team

Cricket is not just a sport, it’s an emotion.  This saying got life in Nepal in 2014 when the Nepali national Cricket team qualified for the T20 World Cup 2014 held in Bangladesh. Led by Legendary Nepali cricketer Paras Khadka, the team played 3 matches and won 2 out of them getting the better of Hong Kong and Afghanistan. Since then, Nepal has grown drastically in the field of cricket. From moments of happiness to Controversies, Nepali players face it all. In this article let’s look at the current Nepali national cricket team.

 

Batsmen: Nepali National Cricket Team

Let’s start with the batsmen who are currently active and playing in the international matches of team Nepal. Following are the players:

  • Aarif Sheikh

He is a right-handed batsman aged 24 years from Birgunj. He is a top-order batsman with an average of 15.44 in ODIs,  20.90 in T20Is, and 14.50 in First-Class cricket.

  • Aasif Sheikh

He is a right-handed batsman aged 20 years from Birgunj. He is a top-order batsman with an average of 31.50 in ODIs,  38.50 in T20Is, and 31.50 in First-Class cricket.

  • Dipendra Singh Airee

He is a right-handed batsman aged 22 years from Kanchanpur. He is a middle-order batsman with an average of 17.66 in ODIs,  26.50 in T20Is, and 20.65 in List A cricket.

  • Kushal Bhurtel

He is a right-handed batsman aged 25 years from Butwal. He is a top-order batsman with an average of 24.00 in ODIs,  69.50 in T20Is, and 20.33 in First-Class cricket.

  • Subash Khakurel

He is a right-handed batsman aged 34 years. He is a top-order batsman with an average of 18.80 in ODIs  14.00 in T20Is and 16.92 in First-Class cricket.

  • Gyanendra Malla

He is a right-handed batsman aged 31 years. He is a top-order batsman with an average of 27.86 in ODIs  24.03 in T20Is and 25.84 in First-Class cricket. Malla is a good batsman on the Nepali national Cricket team.

  • Anil Mandal

He is a right-handed batsman aged 31 years from Janakpur. He is a top-order batsman with an average of 5.50 in T20Is and 15.50 in First-Class cricket.

  • Bhim Sarki

He is a right-handed batsman aged 20 years from Kanchanpur. He is a middle-order batsman and has played in the recent edition of EPL.

  • Sharad Veswakar

He is a right-handed batsman aged 33 years. He is a middle-order batsman with an average of 22.00 in ODIs,  23.84 in T20Is, and 27.00 in First-Class cricket.

  • Karan KC

He is a right-handed batsman and is a right-arm fast bowler aged 30 years from Baglung. In terms of batting, he averages 11.90 in ODIs, 15.20 in T20s, and 11.38 in First-Class cricket. In terms of bowling, he has taken 21 wickets in ODIs, 44 wickets in T20s and 45 in his List A career.

  • Kushal Malla

He is a left-handed batsman and is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler aged 18 years. In terms of batting, he averages 12.14 in ODIs, 29.80 in T20s, and 12.14 in First-Class cricket. In terms of bowling, he has taken 7 wickets in ODIs, 3 wickets in T20s, and 7 in his List A career.

Durgesh Gupta is one rising prospect in the bowling category of the Nepali team who is expected to play internationals soon.

As of now, this is the Nepali National Cricket team currently being coached by Srilankan national Pubudu Dassanayake who is believed to be one of the best coaches who has spent the maximum amount of time with the Nepal team.
